History

The issue of the History of Freemasonry has been excessively researched over the years, but before we can begin to examine the history of Freemasonry we must try first to understand what Freemasonry truly is, so that our search can have a real and useful purpose, in helping us become better Freemasons, but above all better and true human beings.

A Journey Back to Tradition

In 2006 a few Freemasons inspired by the vision for an active Freemasonry that will work according to the old established rules and regulations in order to achieve true spiritual liberty and spiritual advancement, after having been disappointed continuously by the practices and aims of the prevailing Grand Lodges in our country, decided to start on a new journey towards that goal.

For this purpose a number of brothers decided to create new Lodges under the auspices of the Gran Loggia Nazionale dei Liberi Muratori d’ Italia (GLNLMI), and soon an Independent Community of the Freemasons of Greece was established, to shelter these brothers.

After satisfying the necessary requirements, three lodges in Athens and one in Thessaloniki, took permission to create an independent Grand Lodge, under the name Regular Grand Lodge of the Freemasons of Greece. The corresponding Ritual took place in the Mother Lodge of the GLNLMI in Rome, on December 2nd 2007.
