SPIRITUAL AWAKENING

A Timeless Path to Inner Renewal and Spiritual Liberation

Freemasonry is a true Way of spiritual awakening. Advancement along this Way is based among other things upon belief in God, the immortality of the soul, and the traditional values of freedom, faith, respect of the sacred, personal work, discipleship, service to society, brotherhood, love, reciprocity, justice, which alone can ensure man’s spiritual liberation and evolution.

Freemasonry is not something that can be described with words, books, pictures etc, but something that can only be truthfully felt. So, whatever we might say about it can only be appreciated to the degree that someone has put its principles into proper action.

All through the ages men of all places, cultures, traditions, social status, race and color, strove to find and live in happiness, both as individuals and as part of larger or smaller collectivities. The achievement of happiness is one of the goals of the Path towards spiritual awakening.

In their efforts to achieve true happiness men were faced with big and serious obstacles, such ignorance, fear, selfishness, pride, arrogance, avarice, and many more, which made all more necessary the need for help and guidance, and this came from people who were already more advanced in their pursue for happiness.

These people enriched human culture with teachings of various forms, which however over time lost their clarity, their strength, and their effectiveness due to misguided transmissions of the initial teachings by their followers, and for this reason enlightened men kept revitalizing the spiritual heritage given to men for their advancement, which took various shapes, according to the specific time, place, culture of the people who received it.

Freemasonry is one such form that the traditional teaching took for the benefit of all men. Its origin cannot be properly documented, but undoubtedly it contains all that is required to secure its purpose.

The primary effort of every initiation is the rejuvenation of our inner self, so that we may gradually be liberated from all sorts of bonds and entanglements, both mental and sentimental, which society has taught us to consider as necessary.

Freemasons have only one obligation in life, to unfold and follow their consciousness. From the moment we are willing to hear the voice of conscience, we are ready to proceed without fear, because our soul knows what is true, good and right and what is not, and so it always gives us warnings.
The great danger that exists from the complete freedom that the Freemason possesses is that his consciousness may become dulled, and so cannot guide any more.

Masonic principles inspired by belief in God entail duties towards ourselves and duties towards others, which means to act in such a way that the result will be beneficial to all, without at the same time expecting something for recompense.
The principles that guide the work of the RGLFMG rest upon the traditional roots of Freemasony and of spirituality in general. These principles aim at the reconstruction of the future, while always securing themselves on the eternal foundations.

Prime among these principles, rational love surpasses all forms of sentimentalities. It is not addressed to the individual. It is not addressed to humanity. It addresses itself towards all Creation.

At this moment our soul is shrouded by many layers of beliefs, opinions, theories, negative feelings of all sorts, prime among them selfishness and arrogance. We must be freed from these layers and let our inner being shine with clear and bright light.

One of the “secrets” of the Masonic way towards spiritual rebirth is the absolute necessity for personal action and constructive work. It is only by this action that man will succeed in transforming himself. Freemasonry is utterly useless if used as an escape into an illusory world where one is only observing life, and not actually be an active part of it.
If following a spiritual path our life does not change, then we have to take a very sincere and deep look to how we live and work, and examine if we are actually conscious and active participant in all aspects of life, individually and collectively.
