Workings

Freemasonry teaches that its rituals and principles must be actively practiced in daily life to benefit both the individual and society, emphasizing spiritual growth, respect, and service to all. True Masonic work transcends rituals and texts, focusing instead on embodying its values to bring meaningful change to humanity.

ACTIVE SERVICE

Living the Principles of Freemasonry: Service and Spiritual Growth for All

The teachings of Freemasonry are based upon its Rituals and Symbols, within the framework of specific Rules and Regulations, that secure its regularity and purity according to the old traditional landmarks.

However it must be emphasized that the work and obligations of every freemason is not restricted within the framework of a room where the rituals are performed, or within the members of a lodge. As the identity of being a Freemason follows a member always, so do also the duties and obligations. Especially in our so much difficult and darkened times, freemasons must radiate continuously the light of the Masonic principles that they have incorporated within themselves, for the benefit of all, and not just for our family and our lodge brothers.

From this point of view we can understand why a freemason is obliged by himself to work continuously for his own spiritual advancement as well as for the liberation, support and happiness of all.

It must also be stressed that within every lodge, and within the Fraternity as a whole, nobody criticizes anyone else, for his opinions or works, but instead respects the dignity, free will, and independence of each and every one of his brothers, with the purpose of finding solutions to all the issues and problems that face man and society today upon the Earth, so that they may achieve the goal of a whole and meaningful life, full of real joy, happiness, light and health.

At the present time the material about Freemasonry that is available to all people is so vast, that one will have to spend an entire life to get acquainted with all of these. This issue is usually a heavy burden upon members of freemasonry, who think that this material is indispensable for them in order to become proper freemasons. This cannot be further from truth. The so called secrets of freemasonry are not hidden in these materials, or in the various rituals and teachings. The one and only true secret can be revealed to each member only when he has put the principles of freemasonry into practice, and has managed to reap true and good results from it, for the benefit of all, and so for himself also.

Another issue that has to be made clear concerning our workings is that the RGLFG never uses any direct or indirect form of propaganda, in order to attract new members, because it believes that the power of a lodge or grand lodge is not found in the number of its members, but in their ability to bridge everyday life with true spiritual life.

It also stresses from the beginning that it does not accept any sort of qualitative discrimination between “enlightened” freemasons, and profane people, since the path of every person is dissimilar from all others, and so deserves out respect and assistance, only whenever it is asked.
Our duty as freemasons in relation to our work, is not to learn by heart the rituals and teachings, and use them within the lodge, but to project their meaning and sacred essence, so that the New may be born in us and in society as a whole. The New must be born within every human being on earth, not only with a small group of elect ones.

It is for all of the above, that the work of freemasons was always and will always be service towards every living being on Earth. Service is the steady and uninterrupted action of a person or a collectivity that is moved from the pain felt by the sufferings of the universal soul. As a known writer wondered sometime ago: We have to ask ourselves, how many tears have we shed for the suffering Humanity?
